Anyway, we became aware in early 2008 that our guide Solomon was still active. Now he has his own small company (Yeka Tours) with a couple of 4x4 and a minibus. He has good contacts and this is very good for his costumers. He speaks English - somehow rudimentary but more than enough for a travel guide, even being somewhat special. And in case you woudn't understand, he undoubtly will manage for being understood. His previous work as a driver allows him to solve mechanical dificulties that are not rare in the country. He is able of almost everything when reparing a car!

He always led us to the best hotels, at the optimal time of the day, to excellent restaurants, etc. We saw other tourists always in a hurry for instance when visiting markets, we always spent the necessary time - most of times the full day, you cannot rush as in a supermarket! We ate all kind of food without having any problem, of course always drinking safe water or beer. Futhermore we lost the minimum time on our trip to the South.

Only in few cases we didn't agree wiht his choices, for instance when he tried to convince us to sleep in front of a generator that was close to a restaurant near the road. We wanted to sleep far from the noise and he told us this could be dangerous, but finally agreed - We have to say that someone visited us at night but just for curiosity.

After such a long time, the experience of our travel, conversations with other travellers, etc. we have to say that things have changed a lot. Today anyone has email and the information circulates among people over the Internet. Just visit a traveller forum and have a look to get the most updated information. We can only state with absolute certitude that this travel is a must, just go there as soon as you can and enjoy the experience!
